Find A Host For Your Site

  • If your budget is extremely tight, or you are just starting out, you may want to begin by using a free web-space provider.   To find one,   Click Here.   You can practice page-building and site design without anyone seeing your first attempts (and maybe mistakes).   At first, you will have no visitors at all, since nobody knows your site exists.

  • Web pages are built by adding HTML tags to text and graphics.   For tutorials, editors and other kinds of help in learning to do basic page design,   Click Here.

  • A page written in only HTML is static; it doesn't allow users to interact with it.   To make things happen when a visitor takes some action, you'll need to add scripts.   CGI scripts, written in Perl, ASP, C++, etc. run on your server (host) and don't require a plug-in on the visitors computer.   This makes them friendly to all visitors.   To learn about these types of scripts, and where to get them for free,   Click Here.

  • If you have already learned page and site design, or have hired a web designer, you will need a paid host for your site.   This is so you can use your own domain name, not a long (and difficult-to-remember) subdomain/subdirectory name.
