What Products Does Your Target Market Buy?

  • There are two general types of products you can sell:
    1. Physical products
    2. Information products, including software
Information products may be paid for, then downloaded directly from the net.   No packing, shipping or inventory!  Physical products must be bought, stored, packed, shipped, and taxes must be figured every place they will be sold.

  • To find out about current products being sold to your target market, look at some of the sites that you have already identified, or do more searches on the specific products you'd like to know about.   Again, the Search Engines can help you find them.   Be sure to check prices, shipping info, etc.    Also, search for wholesale sources and check their prices.   You may be able to buy at wholesale and then sell at retail, making a good profit.   Your margin needs to be greater than 60% of the selling price, or you won't show much of a profit.

  • You probably know some things your market buys already.   Are there new products they would buy if they were told about them ?   Can you get any of these items at low enough cost to sell them at a good profit ?   And can you do this while offering them at a better price than your market can find elsewhere ?   Remember, if you charge extra for shipping, your customers will see that as part of the price when they comparison shop !

  • Surely your target market, like any market, is in search of specialized information.   And you have that knowledge !   Turn what you know into a book and share your knowledge with people willing to pay for it !   Don't tell me you can't do it. Learn how.
