Autoresponders are special email accounts which automatically send a resonse whenever they receive an email message. The message may often be blank or empty. It may not even need a Subject: line. Autoresponders come with different feature sets and behaviors. Generally, there must be a special address a person can use to remove themself from the list. Many of the free autoresponders will attach a short ad to the bottom of each message they send out. This is similar to you using a signature file in your email. For a monthly fee, most of the free autoresponder services will remove those ads, and present a more professional appearance to your prospects. Under no circumstances should you pay a monthly fee for autoresponders that add their own messages to your emails! The autoresponder saves the email address of the person who sent the message, and can send more email messages at specified intervals.

This allows you to send follow-up messages whenever someone "triggers" your autoresponder. It has been shown that most people have to be contacted seven or more times with an offer before they decide to buy what's offered. With autoresponders, you can create the follow-up letters and make sure that the prospect or lead is contacted on a schedule of your choosing.
There are also many paid autoresponder providers. They charge about $20/month to deliver all your initial and follow-up messages with no advertising added. If you are already successful in your business, I highly recommend you use a paid service. The cost will be repaid many times over by the increased sales and profit you will get. There is another source that can't be described exactly as free or paid. This is the Internet Marketing Warriors. They will give you autoresponders, as well as a script to create them on your own server. Access to their site is for members only, and there is a small charge to become a lifetime member |
